Bretagne: Surfing La Torche

Created on 3 February 2010 By Casper

Last week I spent some time in Bretagne with two friends Timo and Bassie to check out the surf in the furthest west of France.

These 4 days really stimulated our creativity. From cooking on campfires because of forgetting our cooking gear, to driving around all Bretagne in search for some swell, to making over 100 km’s extra by lack of a good map, and so on…

Bretagne is a beautiful area with a rough coast, autumn colored forests, and offers excellent surfspots. We began in Quiberon, far south. The surf in Quiberon made it possible to ride some small waves. This forced us to search on and luckily we ended up in La Torche, south west Bretagne, that really proved our skills and foresaw us in some sweet autumn sessions.

Allthough we didn’t find the perfect conditions, I have to admit that Bretagne really has got potential. So if you’re stoked to go on a surftrip in Europe don’t forget to check this north west corner of France…

After all we had a really good time as you’ll always have if you go together with friends!
